A riad is a traditional Marrakech house built around an interior courtyard. A riad with a pool therefore pairs that courtyard with a basin: in Marrakech, the "riad pool" is usually a plunge pool at the heart of the patio, big enough to cool off, sized for privacy rather than for laps.
