Riad or hotel in Marrakech: which should you choose?
Choose a riad for authenticity and intimacy (a traditional Medina house, a few rooms, personal welcome); choose a hotel for facilities (large pools, full spa, kids clubs, international standards). The real difference between a riad and a hotel
A riad is a traditional Moroccan house built around an interior patio, often with a fountain or small pool. In Marrakech most riads sit inside the Medina (a UNESCO site) and have 3 to 20 rooms: the experience is intimate, the welcome personal, breakfast often served on the rooftop.
A hotel, especially in Hivernage or on the Atlas roads, offers the opposite: scale, facilities (large pools, spa, gyms, multiple restaurants), standardised international service and anonymity if you want it.
A third, often forgotten path: the fully privatised riad or the modern apartment, space of your own, with services on demand. That is exactly what our collection offers, booked direct.

What people don’t always tell you
Riad side: access is often on foot through Medina alleys (taxis stop at the nearest square), sound insulation is that of an old house, and rooms open onto the patio. That is the charm, and you have to embrace it.
Hotel side: the experience is more predictable but more impersonal, and comparable-grade hotels are often pricier than an equivalent riad. To live Marrakech rather than watch it from a lobby, the riad keeps our preference, which is why we built a collection of them.

Is a riad suitable for families with children? +
Yes, if you choose well: privatising a whole riad is ideal with kids (space of your own, no neighbours). Note that patio pools are generally unsupervised and stairs are steep, tell us the kids’ ages on WhatsApp and we will point you to suitable properties.
Do riads have air conditioning and Wi-Fi? +
The riads in our collection do, every property is visited by our team before being listed, amenities checked. Each property page lists the actual amenities of that home.
How does a direct booking with My Kasbah work? +
You message us on WhatsApp (+212 711 529 349) with your dates and the property you like. We confirm availability and the exact rate, the host's rate, with no platform service fee, usually within a few hours. Confirmation and payment terms are arranged directly with the local team: no online payment happens on this site.
Is booking direct legal in Morocco? +
Yes. Short-term tourist rental is regulated by Moroccan Law 80-14 (operating licence, guest declaration, tourist tax). Booking directly with a declared property is perfectly legal.
Can you privatise a whole riad for a group? +
Yes, some riads in the collection rent in full (for example for 6-10 people, a birthday or an event). Share your group size and dates on WhatsApp: we confirm options and the exact rate.
