Booking.com charges its commission to the property, not the guest: published partner analyses (accessed June 11, 2026) put the average around 15% of the booking value, within a 10-25% range by country and program, "Preferred" status adds roughly 3 points of commission in exchange for visibility.
Guests never see that line, but it exists: a property that hands over 15-20% of every booking builds it into its prices. In Marrakech, many riads list higher rates online than their direct rate.

Is booking direct legal in Morocco? +
Yes. Short-term tourist rental is regulated by Moroccan Law 80-14 (operating licence, guest declaration, tourist tax). Booking directly with a declared property is perfectly legal.
How do I know the property really exists? +
Every property in the collection is visited by our local team before being listed. You can also verify the address, ask for photos or a video call before confirming, we are a reachable local team, not an anonymous listing.
Are cancellation terms worse when booking direct? +
