Erg Chigaga, The Authentic Sahara

Distance: 350 km (8 h round trip, or 2 days with a bivouac night). Type: real sand dunes (100 m high). Best if: you want THE Sahara with real dunes, you have 2 days and enjoy 4x4 driving and sleeping under the stars.

Merzouga (Erg Chebbi), The Most Iconic

Distance: 560 km (9 h round trip, or 3 days). Type: monumental dunes (150 m high), world-famous sandboarding spot. Best if: you have 3+ days and want the most Instagram-worthy location.
