About
The ramparts (Skala) offer a stunning view over the ocean and the Purpuraire Islands. The fishing port comes alive each morning when the bright-blue boats return, you can buy the freshest grilled fish in Morocco here, sardines for next to nothing. Tagharte beach, several kilometres long, is popular with surfers and kite-surfers.
The medina is far calmer than Marrakech's: no scooters, no hassle. You'll find local crafts (thuya wood, silver, Gnawa instruments) and a vibrant art scene. Every summer the city hosts the Gnaoua and World Music Festival.
